IT'S OUR LIVELIHOOD...
Our Livelihood is a Yorkshire based independent marketing consultancy founded and run by Ian Bishop. Everything on this site I have done or led my teams to deliver and there's lots more to add. When I look back, I am very proud of the content and the people who worked with me to achieve so many great things... we've done some amazing stuff!
As the former Marketing Director for Nisa Retail Limited, Costcutter Supermarkets Group, Star Sportswear and The Yorkshire County Cricket Club, my experience is vast and varied! I'm available for Project work or Interim Assignments.

I was approached by the joint Managing Directors to conduct a business review on key elements of the business. In the process I identified huge savings on print and process; something they have now implemented. This is what they thought of my work...
"We engaged Ian to make an objective analysis regarding some key areas within our business and suggestion’s for improvement. The brief from our selves was broad but one that Ian grasped immediately and provided exactly what we were looking for with professionalism and enthusiasm"

"Thank you so much for being the keynote speaker at this years East Yorkshire Business Expo – I just wanted to thank you for delivering what I believe has been the most inspiring, motivational and entertaining speech we have had in the nine years that Expo has been running. Your insights into the marketing and brand development of FMCG Retailers as well as your time with Yorkshire County Cricket Club were of great interest to the audience. You not only delivered a memorable keynote speech but also took the time to talk and answer questions with both the audience and Expo exhibitors, who have, I am pleased to say given very positive feedback – I am speaking for all involved when I say that we left the seminar feeling motivated, empowered and driven to look closely at our own brands and marketing campaigns."

At the Nisa 2016 Stoneleigh Exhibition we created a showcase to share with the membership the fantastic work we had done to improve the Nisa own brand. Today after a little over two years, the brand delivers in excess of £120m at wholesale value and is multi award winning. VERY proud of this piece of work and this shot shows the entire range.

At Costcutter I developed the three tier fascia route that delivered formats for value, mid price point and premium. We did some searching for what the value brand could be and unbelievably the KWIKSAVE brand had been left dormant. We started the process of registering the brand and I then brought it back to life back in its current convenience store format guise.

This was the brand TV ad we created at Nisa to "kick start" a new consumer driven brand. The campaign was used across a variety of media including instore radio, consumer leaflets and national press. The ad went on to win the Grocer ad of the week!

When I was pulling content together for this website, I'm proud of how the leaflets I've been involved in have transformed over the years. Huge improvements from when I took over and consumers thought so too. I was also the first to bring full colour personalisation to the market too!

Before moving to Costcutter, I helped former Ferrari Chief Mechanic and his wife Lucy raise some much needed funds for a charity called Zoe's Place. We did two fundraising dinners together that raised well over £100,000 between them. Rob and his wife Lucy have since become Patrons of Zoe's Place. Two very special, wonderful people and a fantastic cause.

Comfortable presenting to 8 or 800. I've lost count on the number of presentations I've made over the years. Conferences, industry events, Marketing specific audiences; I've always been one of the highest scores on the feedback forms. I can present on the Convenience industry, brand and brand development, sponsorship or getting the best value from agencies at any location, anywhere in the world.

At The Yorkshire County Cricket Club I negotiated (at the time) the biggest Kit Deal in County Cricket and the apparel went on to win Kit of the Year at the ECB Marketing Awards. I also did the shirt sponsorship too! The picture shows Michael Vaughan wearing it during his last game in First Class Cricket... incidentally I also ran the former England Captains and Darren Gough's Benefit Years too!
